Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) is the most significant yearly event of a Co-operative Credit Society, bringing together all members to review the society’s progress, financial performance, and future plans. It serves as a platform for open discussion, where members can address concerns, evaluate the previous year’s activities, and collectively decide on strategies for the coming year. As per the Co-operative Societies Act and Bye Law No. 94(a), 94(b), and 95, the AGM should ideally be held before September each year, unless otherwise specified in the society’s bylaws. This meeting ensures transparency, accountability, and democratic participation, giving every member an equal voice in shaping the growth and stability of the credit society.

The AGM is also a platform for identifying challenges faced by the society, such as loan recovery issues, operational inefficiencies, or changes in financial regulations, and deciding on collective strategies to address them. It allows members to propose new ideas, such as introducing new financial products, improving digital banking services, or expanding the society’s membership base.
A successful AGM encourages active participation from all members. Notices are issued well in advance, ensuring that everyone is aware of the date, time, venue, and agenda. The proceedings are documented in the minutes, which serve as an official record of decisions taken. By attending and engaging in the AGM, members not only exercise their rights but also take responsibility for the smooth functioning and growth of their Co-operative Credit Society.
